Masks are applied to a group by applying the mask to each layer in the group, according to the help file.

It would be useful if a mapping transformation could be applied to a group, presumably by applying it to each layer. (A kaleidoscope transformation is one obvious example.)

You can actually mask all the layers in a group. Just create a layer below the group (as a sibling, so not in the group), and then click its "Use as Mask" button to turn it into a mask.

Yes, I understood that, but my post wasn't clear. One mask for the entire group, no need to apply the mask to each layer. Making mappings work the same way would be useful.

I think Frederik means the same. You apply a mask to entire group the same way you apply it to a single layer. Unless we both are missing something.

Also, I cannot think of a scenario where applying the same mask to every layer individually may give different (but expected) result?
