So I was just replying with an example of part of a parameter, and when I pressed "post" it popped up "Your reply had been detected as span" and it looked like I was banned on the forum until I pressed back and entered this thread again. Any idea what's going on? I've never seen something like this before.

I don't know how heavy backwards compatibility weighs for parameters/formulas, but it's been severely broken before anyway. Many of the public parameters from the mailing list and private parameters made with UF2/3 can't be loaded anymore. Besides I found a perfectly satisfactory solution that doesn't break compatibility. I added a new float value alongside the existing value, here called findex:

gradient:
  smooth=yes numnodes=7 index=16 findex=16.325 color=0 index=73 color=6441216 index=120
  color=16777215 index=123 color=4756378 index=191 color=2178624 index=274
  color=858908 index=319 color=11195351

[edit] This post is basically the same (ofc not perfectly identical) as the one detected as spam, and now it's fine!

Hi Mark,

You should be able to load all parameter sets from previous UF versions in UF6 -- just let me know about any that don't and I'll have a look at that.

Your solution regarding float index values is definitely possible, but has its own drawbacks. I'll think about it some more.

I don't know why the forum software acted up, btw.
