Dear UltraFractal folks,

I’m writing in the hopes that someone might assist me. I’m new to Ultra Fractal and am trying to replicate a very specific look for an art project I am developing. The closest example that I can find is one posted by Robert Töreki here: https://www.ultrafractal.com/showcase/robert.html
In his caption he mentions that it is “A study of using the flame fractal in Ultra Fractal since I always liked the Apophysis fractal program. Sketchy and grayscale to accentuate the shapes.”

My project involves a collaboration with multiple authors and is supported with some grant money from my university, more about it can be found here: https://www.matthewfriday.net/project/temporal-cartography/
I would be willing to pay for someone for their assistance if they could walk me through the steps needed to achieve similar results to Robert’s. I'd also be delighted if someone happens to have Robert's contact info. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Hello Matthew,
Although I've enjoyed using Ultra Fractal for several years I don't know a whole lot about creating flame fractals with this software. When I looked it up I found this link: https://www.ultrafractal.com/help/index.html?/help/fractalwindows/calculationdetails.html

At the bottom of the page there is a useful tip (item #2 shown highlighted):

Here is a quick set of params that may help you get started:

Flame Fractals params.txt

The key is patience and playing around with the variables.

You should download the Apophysis program and play with it to generate flame fractals:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/apophysis/

If you get something you like, you can import it into Ultra Fractal. Here is some more information (look at my post at the bottom of this thread):

Thanks Frederik - I'm working on a mac so Apophysis won't work, however, I found another program that handles flames well - Jwildfire and your advice on how to import them into Ultrafractal is very helpful.
