When UF6 is started, the Ultra Fractal startup window appears showing that the program is starting. Sometimes that seems to take several minutes, which seems like a long time (especially since UF5 always starts very quickly) but I could live with it if I could continue to do other work while UF is initializing. However, the startup window insists on being in front of everything else, making that impossible.

Can you please allow us to put other windows in front of the UF startup screen? (And when UF finally does start, please leave the initial UF window at the same position as the startup window so it doesn't interrupt whatever we were doing while UF was starting.)

As a bonus, it would be nice to have a progress bar on the startup window so we can estimate how much longer we need to wait for UF to start. Other applications with a long startup time do this, and it is helpful. But not a requirement if that is difficult.

This is a strange behavior of UF6. When I start the program, it takes 6 tot 8 seconds to pop up and wait for instructions. So definitely not minutes. And opening another program places that program in front of UF6, not behind it. Ik have no idea what happens with your configuration.

I have to make a correction. You are right for the second part, the startup screen remains indeed in front of any other program but because UF6 starts up so quickly on my PC I didn't notice it and I don't care.

My experience is the same as Jan's. UF6 starts up very quickly for me.

UF's startup is also very fast for me; more like a quick "splash screen" before the tool windows and such load. It takes about 2 or 3 seconds.
This is on Windows 10 and a 3yr old desktop PC with Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB RAM.

A startup procedure taking minutes to complete suggests either a less well specified machine or something not quite right somewhere.

It shouldn't take that long for UF to initialize. I'm suspecting that it takes a long time to initialize the graphics card on your system for OpenGL acceleration. Could you try to uncheck Enable OpenGL acceleration on the Fractal tab of the Preferences dialog and then restart?

That seemed to work. Thanks. Installing 6.01 re-enabled it for some reason, but once I figured that out I just unchecked it again.
