It is with great pleasure that I announce the release of Ultra Fractal 6! This is a major new version for both Windows and macOS with many new features such as 64-bit support, ultra-fast deep zooming, Retina/High DPI support, and much more.

Can I install the version 6 trial along side UF5? I know I will be upgrading, but I'd still like to try it out first.

Mad, I have the trial version 6 running alongside UF 5. I just installed it to a different folder. I downloaded all formulas afresh so as to keep the two installations somewhat separate.

I've just checked on UF5 by opening it - seems to be working ok though it threw up a notice when started about not being the default program. I just hit Cancel and it opened anyway. Seems to be working ok.

Currently I'm experiencing UF6 is about 3 times slower than UF5. Are there any new settings which will rectify this? Any known issues?

Edit: I figured it out. Switched off the anti-aliasing and that fixed it

You can absolutely run both versions side by side and I would recommend this so you can safely try version 6.

That's it! Note that you can set if you want anti-aliasing by default in the Defaults tab of the Preferences dialog (View > Preferences). You can also set it to override existing parameter sets, so they open with anti-aliasing if you would prefer that.

Of course anti-aliasing makes the calculation slower to finish, but the initial non-anti-aliased pass is rougly equally fast.

I do however seem to have a few oddities.

I notice that every time I open version 6 it shows a pop up saying "You have successfully entered your license for Ultra Fractal 6".
Is this intended or have I done something wrong?

If I close the starting Window Fractal 1 using the red button and try to open a new File Ultra Fractal quits unexpectedly. This has happened every time I have tried it.

I am using a MacBook Pro with 16 GB Ram, OSX 10.12.6

i wanted to try the uf6, but was unpleasantly surprised: installed the trial version, but as soon as i launched it i got this message: "an error occurred in the application." when i click on the offered "mail bug report" button, the program performs nothing, but - hangs!... uf5 is still installed on this machine, works perfectly. the os is w10...

i tried to install+launch the program on another, similar machine (also w10) - no problems!... it seems that i have a system issue with my computer... please, can someone direct me where should i look for the error?

Please try entering your license information again. Tried it many times.

Congratulations on the release of UF 6 Frederik!

I am using the evaluation version initially, and I want to know how I might be able to see more detail regarding my saved parameters which are showing errors in the browser? If I could see specifically what it is about the parameters that it doesn't like I can make corrections. The parameters I have seen with errors when building in the preview, have all tended to open into the main app, although I don't know that they are working correctly (due to them being complex).

Edit to add: The previews were showing "Contains Errors" but these appear to be correcting themselves. This is brilliant news as it means I haven't broken anything

That's quite odd, the program should show it only once. Can you try to close UF by clicking Ultra Fractal > Quit instead of closing the fractal window?

I've received another report about this problem on Mac. Will look into it and fix it in a 6.01 update. For now, can you just keep the first fractal window open until you've opened another window (so there's always at least one window visible)?

Can you try to copy and paste the bug report from the "an error occurred" dialog and email it to me manually?

Hi Frederik,
Yes if I click Ultra Fractal > Quit when I reopen the program the license message does not show up again.
I am quite happy to leave the start up window open for the time being.
